Production Technician
About Alva
Founded in 2016, Alva has grown to over thirty people with reliable funding and an ingenious and patented production technology with proven superiority over conventional alternatives. Our FiberPrinting™ technology enables the production of low-weight, high-efficiency electric motors and generators for a wide range of applications, reflecting our true purpose. We don’t just enhance electric motors and generators; we also enhance electric cars, ships, airplanes, UAVs, medical equipment, robots, satellites, and much more.
We are currently expanding our product range and on-site manufacturing facilities significantly to meet strong market demand. All our motors are designed and manufactured here at our facilities in Trondheim, where we develop not only the motors but also the innovative and patented manufacturing tools and processes that allow us to extract the maximum potential from our FiberPrinting™ technology.
The Position
As we expand our production and prototyping capacity, we are looking for dedicated individuals to join the Alva team as Production Technicians. This role is part of our Engineering team but has a strong emphasis on hands-on manufacturing. You will work directly with our patented production machinery and processes to support low-volume customer orders, while collaborating closely with engineers to develop, prototype, and refine production techniques.
At our Trondheim headquarters, we design and manufacture groundbreaking electric motor technology entirely in-house. This process requires a diverse range of skills and production methods to transform copper wire and magnets into the world's highest-performing slotless electric motors. However, no prior experience with electric machines is necessary for this role. We provide comprehensive training to ensure you master each step of the production process, allowing you to become an expert over time. We're seeking individuals with a sharp eye for detail, a passion for learning, and a strong commitment to adhering to quality standards and procedures.
Key Tasks in This Role
- Manufacture Alva’s cutting-edge electric motors on our production line. Typical operations include:
- Magnet insertion and gluing
- Epoxy preparation and potting
- Using the FiberPrinter™ to produce copper stator mats
- Composite wrapping of magnetic rotors
- Soldering of wires and printed circuit boards
- Machining of components or tools in our mechanical workshop
- Undertake quality and performance testing on finished motors, such as:
- Dimensional measurements
- Voltage insulation testing
- Electrical performance testing using our end-of-line test rigs
- Perform intake control on incoming components, including:
- Quality control and visual inspection of parts
- Dimensional inspection using precision measuring devices
- Sorting of components into kits and booking into our warehouse
What are we looking for in a candidate?
The following attributes are essential for applying to this role:
- At least one year of experience working in a production environment
- Proven ability to follow procedures and guidelines (both written and spoken)
- Fluency in either English or Norwegian
- Strong teamwork skills—reliable team member with good timekeeping, a positive attitude, and clear communication
Additionally, the following attributes would make you a stand-out candidate, so be sure to mention if any apply to you:
- Experience with soldering electric components
- Experience handling and preparing epoxies and adhesives
- Experience working in machine shops (lathes, mills, etc.)
- Any formal training or qualifications as an electrician or machinist
What can we offer you?
In addition to a competitive salary, stock options, and insurance scheme, you will also become a member of a highly dedicated and committed company that values teamwork, continuous personal development, a fast technical development pace, and a professional work environment. Alva place a strong emphasis on employee well-being and creating a nurturing workplace environment.
