Application Engineer with Product Management Responsibility, Electric Motors
Help world-class customers integrate our frameless motors — and steer our roadmap as you bridge tech, product & market in this hybrid engineering/PM role.
At Alva, we develop state-of-the-art frameless electric motors used in some of the world’s most demanding and innovative applications — from robotics to aerospace, medical devices to industrial automation. Our motors are lightweight, precise, and powerful, designed to push the boundaries of what’s possible in precision motion systems.
As our new Application Engineer with a Product Management focus, you'll be in a key technical customer-facing role: helping our global customers navigate our advanced product portfolio and integrate our motors into their next-generation systems. You'll also play a strategic role in shaping our future products, acting as the bridge between market needs and product development.
Your Role
Application Engineering
- Support the sales team in technical discussions during customer meetings
- Help customers navigate our electric motor portfolio to find the optimal solution
- Perform performance calculations and sizing to ensure competitive, high-performing proposals
- Provide hands-on support during customer evaluation, testing, and system integration
- Maintain a deep understanding of Alva’s motor technology, capabilities, and differentiators
- Serve as a key link between customers and the engineering team to ensure successful outcomes
- Prepare technical quotes and proposals in collaboration with engineering and sales
Product Management
- Gather and analyze customer and market feedback to uncover trends and needs
- Support product planning and roadmap decisions with data-backed insights
- Help define new product requirements and prioritize development initiatives
- Create and maintain product documentation, such as datasheets and technical notes
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering, or similar
- Experience in application engineering or product management within motion systems (e.g. electric motors, encoders, gearboxes, or servo drives)
- Fluent in written and spoken English
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- Experience integrating and testing motion control systems
- Strong working knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Familiarity with PLM and CRM systems
- Basic programming skills (e.g. Python, C, or graphical environments like LabVIEW)
- Willingness to travel to customer sites and industry events (up to 25%)
- Fluency in German or another European language is a plus
