Prototyping Technican
We are hiring Prototyping Technicians to join the Production Engineering team (reporting to the Production Engineering Team Lead). These roles sit within the Engineering organization, working side-by-side with engineers to prototype, commission, inspect, and document new processes and assemblies before they are released into serial production.
This is a hands-on technical role inside Engineering, not Production. Prototyping Technicians are a vital part of product development process and will become experts in the hand-on aspects of prototyping and developing new products and technologies.
The role spans three main areas of work:
- Commissioning new designs – building the first prototypes of new custom and portfolio designs, carrying out detailed inspections, and confirming that tools and outputs function as intended.
- Prototyping new technologies – working hands-on with engineers to trial new concepts, materials, and process methods.
- Supporting production improvements – implementing and testing corrective actions where production issues require engineering validation or prototyping before rollout to the line.
In all areas, you will be expected to master hands-on processes, provide structured feedback, and create accurate documentation that becomes part of the engineering release to production.
Key Tasks in This Role

-Perform and master all process-specific tasks, including:
- Magnet insertion and gluing
- Epoxy preparation and potting
- FiberPrinting™ copper stator mats
- Composite wrapping of rotors
- Soldering and wiring
- Machining and workshop operations
- Create and maintain process documentation (procedures, photos, videos) as an engineering deliverable.
- Conduct dimensional and electrical inspection of prototypes and early builds.
- Provide structured feedback and troubleshooting support during early-stage builds.
- Assist with intake inspection and preparation of new components.
