Senior Mechanical Engineer
The position
We are looking for a passionate and ambitious Senior Mechanical Engineer who will play a key role in our design team, working on the next generation of Alva’s high-performance electric motors. This is a great opportunity for an engineer who has built a few years of solid experience and is now ready to take the next step - with more ownership, responsibility, and creative freedom.
In this role, you’ll take ideas from concept to reality, transforming designs into production-ready solutions that push the boundaries of what’s possible. You’ll work hands-on with CAD design, detailed drawings, BOM and PLM management, and collaborate closely with a highly skilled, multidisciplinary team.
We’re looking for someone who thrives at the intersection of precision design and practical problem-solving - someone eager to grow, take initiative, and make a real impact in a company where engineering decisions truly matter.
Key Tasks in this role:
- Own the mechanical design of components for Alva’s electric motors, from concept through production readiness.
- Design components and associated production tooling, ensuring manufacturability, consistency, and quality at scale.
- Create and maintain detailed 3D CAD models, technical drawings, and assemblies using GD&T and industry best practices.
- Manage and maintain BOMs, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and traceability throughout the product lifecycle.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams - including electrical, systems, and production engineering - to align designs with functional and manufacturing requirements.
- Support structured development workflows through PLM systems, including revision control and configuration management.
- Assist in prototyping and testing efforts and contribute to continuous improvements in design quality and process efficiency.
What we are looking for
Essential:
- BSc or MSc degree in mechanical engineering or similar engineering field.
- Min. 3 years of experience in mechanical design, ideally for rotating machinery, precision hardware or electromechanical products.
- Strong proficiency in 3D CAD and mechanical drawing standards, including GD&T.
- Experience designing components with a focus on manufacturing tooling and production-readiness.
- Experience with BOM management and product lifecycle tools (PLM) in a structured engineering environment.
- Strong attention to detail, documentation, and design intent.
Preferred:
- Experience with prototyping, testing, or supplier
- FEA or mechanical simulation experience
